In March 2016 St John’s C.E. (A) Primary represented the West Midlands as the school of the year in the National Modeshift school travel Award competition held in London at Portcullis House. The school had previously been awarded the Stoke on Trent school of the year for the work on the school travel plan and achieving the Gold Award. We have also reduced our travel to school by cars by 23%.
The children presented the invited audience with the other regional winners with a summary of work that the school does for sustainable travel. They all spoke well and eloquently. Although we were not the winners of the national award the group were praised for their enthusiasm and team work. They were taken on a vintage bus to the Sky studios and produced a film about cycling to school. Very well done to this group.
