Welcome to St John's CE (A) Primary School

St Johns CE(A) Primary school badgeWelcome to St. John's CE(A) Primary School which opened in september 2005 following an amalgamation of two schools. Thank you for looking at our website and I hope you find it interesting and informative. The new school is located close to the City General hospital, set back from the A34 on the grounds of the former Springfield's school to serve the communities of Trent Vale, Springfields and Penkhull.

Our mission statement at St. John's is "hand in hand we pray together, learn together and grow together." We aim to provide a quality education, built on high standards and high expectations of behaviour.

Here at St Johns Church of England (CofE) primary school, we place a strong emphasis on pastoral care, so every child feels valued and supported. The development of a positive ethos is essential for children to become good learners. We also believe every child is unique and special.

The curriculum at St. John's primary school is balanced with an important focus on reading, literacy and numeracy in the mornings. There are additional learning opportunities at dinner time and after school. As a Church of England aided school we aim to put the teachings of Jesus at the daily lives of our pupils, and the Christian ethos is important at St. John's.

We also provide cooled water and water bottles for all our children and they all receive a daily portion of fruit.

Regular communication between school and parents is vital and we recognise the importance of good home links. Parents are always welcome to discuss any issues or concerns. Regular open afternoons/evenings take place to inform parents about their child's progress.

This Stoke-on-Trent school is one of a new and enviromenally aware design. Costing £3 millon, it has a modern open-plan design so as to do away with nooks and crannies. The distinctive round roof is covered in a vegetation that forms an integral part of the schools heat insulation, and a underground water tank catches flood water from the car parks. Children are encouraged to cycle and walk to school but we have a visitor's car park for 24 cars.  Other parking must be outside the school.

We value our partnership with parents / carers and the community and the school has developed these positive relationships during the four years that we have been open.
Here are some quotes from parents & they are genuine!

  • ‘I like the building it is bright and colourful.’
  • ‘The new school has much better facilities.’
  • ‘The school is very quite and calm and the staff are so helpful.’
