Welcome to St John’s CE (A) Primary School

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to St. John’s CE (A) Primary School. St John’s is an excellent Christian school that has a passion for children and a strategic vision that is at the very centre of any work that we do. Our school is a happy place, where everyone is valued and respected. We pride ourselves on our work not only in school, but in the wider community. Our link with St. John’s Church is strong. We strive to deliver outstanding practice; to provide our children with awe-inspiring learning. Our school values are Dedication, Courage and Joy.

Our school values together with our Christian distinctiveness, form part of our daily collective worship. As a result, our children have a strong sense of belonging and a clear understanding of the need to care for each other. At St John’s, we aim for our children to come to school full of joy, ready to learn. We believe that children learn best when their emotional well-being is strong; motivated to do well. Our partnership with parents is part of our success and we ask that parents support their children in giving them a love of learning by conversing with them about their school day and by ensuring reading and homework tasks are completed.

Our school offers a broad and balanced curriculum led by highly motivated staff, keen to provide the best possible teaching and learning experiences. This is delivered through a variety of opportunities in which children explore their own learning, alongside more traditional lessons to ensure key skills are embedded.

The school has a rich extended curriculum tradition, with opportunities to partake in sporting and musical activities and an array of after school clubs. School leaders in these areas constantly looking for ways to engage all children in developing their skills.

Pastoral support for our children is important. We have a strong pastoral support team that work with families and children requiring additional support. Our school believes that a proactive approach ensures that children’s needs are met at the earliest possible stages, and we work closely with local agencies to ensure that our children and families are well supported and safe.

Our website pages provide more information about some of the activities taking place in our school. You are most welcome to visit and we encourage prospective parents to come during the school day to meet our delightful children. We welcome contributions to our practice from parents and the community so that our children’s learning is inclusive and aspirational. We look forward to meeting you soon.
