Headteachers letter

A welcome from the Head Teacher

It gives me great pleasure as Headteacher to welcome you to St. Johns and hope you find all the information on the website interesting, although it cannot give you the positive and unique atmosphere of the school that visitors comment on. Parent/careers are always welcome to visit our school and you will find a very sincere and warm welcome awaits you.

At St. Johns we believe every child is special and we seek to nurture and develop each pupil. We have an emphasis on basic skills as well as offering a broad and balanced curriculum. We provide a well organised environment where children’s needs are viewed individually and where a common sense of purpose promotes high standards. The staff team are constantly seeking ways for all children to achieve success in our ever changing world. We have high expectations of pupils, staff and families and remain determined that every pupil can achieve be the best they can be.

One of our key aims is to treat all children equally and to provide children with skills for living. We believe in the importance of developing self-confidence, the ability to articulate feelings and ideas and learning to make decisions. We also believe it is important to encourage each child’s social skills and self-discipline and to show respect for other people and their surroundings. We endeavor to make learning fun and engaging and try to build on the interests of our pupils and give them experiences to increase their motivations and aspirations.

Ofsted made it clear that the school has the quality of leadership from staff and Governors to become outstanding and we are already on that journey. We believe that education is a partnership between school and family and that good home links are vital. There are many opportunities for you to find out about what we do and helps in your child’s learning. My staff and I are always available to talk to you and share any concerns so we can provide a caring, nurturing environment that will ensure your child is happy during their important school days.

We believe that the teaching of Jesus, ‘to love one another’ is what makes our school such a calm, happy and caring environment.

Yours sincerely
Mrs P Bloor
